I need some advice. I have an Owner who has "entered into a paint supply contract & technical services contract with [a stated Supplier]." Where would I place this requirement within SectionFormat? Does Administrative Requirements seem like a good location?

The Contractor is apparently furnishing the paint so it is not Owner-supplied. Contractor is also required to "work through" the stated Supplier who is responsible for inspection.

I would place it in PART 1 under Quality Assurance as a supplier requirement.

Karen, Here's how I would start out. Administrative Requirements in Part 1 could state the terms of the supply and services contract. I would change Acceptable Manufacturers to Designated Suppliers in Part 2 to identify the supplier data. In Part 3 you can identify the supplier again as doing the inspection at the top, prior to Examination, where SF/PF shows Installers. If that doesn't quite explain the requirements, make adjustments that you are more comfortable with.

Thank you both! Good suggestions. I already have some text that was in Part 3 designated as a move to PT.1 QA... and I really like the Designated Suppliers idea.

Some of our institutional clients have long lists of dedicated suppliers. One has even created a Division One, Section 01 11 23 - National Sourcing Agreements, to specify the requirements and to provide a home for a comprehensive list of the dedicated sources.

From there we include in article 1.1 of each relevant Section a stand alone reference (instead of just including in the "Related Sections" listing), and in article 2.1 we note that only the following provider is acceptable.

Similar to Unregistered Guest, we have clients who have national purchasing agreements with a number of vendors. We use 01 1000 Summary to reference purchase contracts which allows one to spell out the particulars of procurement - supplier's contact information, who will purchase material, negotiated price, etc. In Part 2 of the specific Sections we then reference only products part of the Owner's purchasing agreements.
