My firm is just about to pull the trigger and buy SpecLink-E. I would really appreciate knowing if there are any major issues with this program. Thanks.

David,
If you would forward me your e-mail address, with your phone number, I would be happy to give you a call to discuss what I have found about the program. As a previous Speclink+ user, I have been working with an evaluation copy the past week and have not encountered too much difficulty with new projects.

I'm Susan McClendon, Chief Specifier and Product Manager for BSD SpecLink. We have identified a problem with copying old SpecLink+ projects into SpecLink-E (SLE). Under some circumstances, sections will not convert properly. We have actually fixed the problem and are currently testing to make certain that our fix doesn't have any unexpected consequences. Until we have fully resolved this issue, it would probably be better to postpone installing SLE. At this point, we are optimistic that we’ll have a new version on our website early next week. I'll post a notice when it's ready. If anyone has questions about this, please don’t hesitate to call or email our Support department, at (800) 266-SPEC or support@bsdsoftlink.com, or call me at (888) BSD-SOFT.

Steve,

I just sent you an e-mail.

I will be using a new program and not converting from an old version.

Hi, Susan McClendon again: We discovered that the problem with the initial version of BSD SpecLink®-E (SLE) was that, under certain circumstances, projects copied from BSD SpecLink+ into SpecLink-E may include sections that subsequently cannot be opened and closed properly. We have identified and corrected the problem and posted a replacement for SLE on our website. Anyone who has installed the initial version -- and needs to copy projects from BSD SpecLink+ -- should download and install this replacement (Release 2.1.6.0) over the initial version of SLE.

We apologize to anyone for whom this has been an inconvenience and assure you we take these software issues seriously and do our best to minimize them.
