Looks like a subsidiary of Ron Blank & Associates.

I never heard of them until you mentioned them. Their specifications, from the samples they provide on their website, appear to be similar to those provided by other master guide specifications and similar to the short form specifications of MasterSpec.

I just looked at their website. Sections look very similar to SpecText in overall concept; appear to have additional sections covered as well.
I'd like to know who is doing the updating and maintaining of the system.

Having seen the sample sections recently, at a glance it appeared to me too that they are similar to Short Form - though they also have some sections with a version that has one "recommended" manufacturer.

I looked at the sample section for Unit Masonry 04 2000 that is listed on the spexPlus web site and offer the following comments.

This section is often used to specify significant structural elements in the building yet there was little awareness of these structural concerns in this section.

Statements that tell the contractor to perform work in accordance with TMS 402 are equivalent to saying do the work in accordance with the building code. More direction is needed.

This sample specification does not reflect the "Mandatory Requirements Checklist" in TMS 602. A basic concern, when you reference a standard be aware of the options that you must specify.

There was no reference to the special inspection requirements of the IBC related to masonry.

This is a section that would require serious editing before being used to specify structural masonry.
