A faxed document was, usually at both ends. Now, of course, even a "faxed" document can be an e-document if both the sender and the recipient have the capability of faxing through their computers. Following that thought, e-clients, e-owners, e-contractors and e-buildings already exist in things like SimCity as well as in "virtual" games and worlds.
