OK, I know what an RFI is, but what is an ERFI?

RFI's didn't change names when they started faxing them in, why does it need a new name when it's sent electronically? What's next, e-submittals, e-contracts?

There are "e-Specs".

I wonder when we'll reach the point when we have "e-Clients," "e-Owners," and "e-Contractors" who will design and construct "e-Buildings."

I'm thinking the difference is that an "e" document doesn't have to be tangible. A faxed document was, usually at both ends. Now, of course, even a "faxed" document can be an e-document if both the sender and the recipient have the capability of faxing through their computers.

Following that thought, e-clients, e-owners, e-contractors and e-buildings already exist in things like SimCity as well as in "virtual" games and worlds.

The American Heritage Dictionary has a good explanation/definition of these new terms that we are going to have to recognize and adopt: http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/virtual

But "ERFI" looks funny and is prounced funny, too. Sounds like a weird pet name..."Here, Erfi, here Erfi.."

Don: Please use the proper term... e-gad! ;-)

I bet it isn't too far off that we'll be getting a response to our request for payment with the proverbial "your e-check is in the e-mail."
