Does anyone have a link to the HUD Guide Specifications? Have they been eliminated or replaced by the Unified Facilities Guide Specifications? |

Are you asking about the old Minimum Property Standards? If so, they have been largely replaced by the model building codes. Here's a link that might help: MPS. As a disclaimer, I haven't worked on HUD projects for several years, but about ten or so years ago, I did find a scanned in copy of the old MPS (mid-1970's) on the hud.gov website. |

I've only done one HUD project, and it was in Los Angeles. We used Chapter 11A of the California Building Code, the FHA (Fair Housing Authority's guidelines), ANSI 117, and UFAS (Uniform Federal Accessiblity Standards). These codes were used collectively, so all items of them are compounded, there was no specified hiearchy of compliance. We also had to observe the requirements of HUDclips: http://www.hudclips.org/cgi/index.cgi, which is a whole other world of requirements. In my limited experience HUD projects are quite interesting, much in the same way that root canals are interesting. |

You can find HUD Guide Specifications for Public and Indian Housing at: http://webstore.huduser.org/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?categories_id=4&keywords=specifications. Also see: http://www.hudclips.org/sub_nonhud/html/nph-brs.cgi?d=PIHN&s1=95-$%5Bno%5D&op1=AND&SECT1=TXTHLB&SECT5=PIHN&u=../html/shortcut.htm&p=1&r=22&f=G. I actually did some of these back in the early 90's under a contract with HUD with the firm I was with at the time. Have no idea if anything has been done to keep them up-to-date or to expand them. |
