Karen- would you perhaps be able to share anything about that macro that converts tracked changes to strikeout/underline/color? chrisgrimm@ls3p.com

Chris,
It's not a macro, it is a setting within Word. Word's default is to show each reviewer in a different color, to show deleted text with strikeout and added text underlined. If you want to change these, go to Tools>Options>Track Changes (tab).

Use it frequently...

No, I mean a few posts back, May 09, 2006 - 03:22 pm, Karen mentions a macro that converts the automatic tracked changes to "frozen" text formats.

We mark up our sections this way as we write addenda (because we are looking at the section anyway at that point). Using text formats ensure that the changes are evident regardless of a user's revision view settings. Would be nice to use track changes to begin, then click a button and have it frozen.

Karen,

I would also appreciate the code for the macro.

Sorry it's been so long... am just catching up from the last crunch period. As this is OT I am also copying this into a new thread “MS macro.”

The macro doesn't do anything with Track Changes -- you would want to use it INSTEAD of TC. It is embedded into the Normal.dot template and provides buttons in your toolbar to more quickly create "red/strikeout/hidden text" and "blue/underline" (plus a few more that Caltrans requires for comments). I'd be glad to email it to anyone with instructions for installing it if you all still want it?

Wayne, you could access the code from the dot -- changing the macro is not my strong point (I rely on our admins for that).

Karen,

Do you mean Caltrans DOT or MSWord *.dot?
I do not need the code, just the macro.

Thanks

Wayne
