It is only verification [after investigation] that something is possible, but the end result requires much more study, refinement and work. It is a matter of knowing what can/should be done, and understanding and deciding if we really want to do it. Flexibility, alternatives, options, etc., are integral parts of the linkage between, “Yes, we can” and “Let’s do it this way” Feasibility is looking forward at as many ramifications, impediments and pathways as possible to see or envision. It is looking through fog, veils, light clouds and mirage-like images to see IF the murky reality presents a viable opportunity. It searches for and reveals “glitches”, cow patties , abysses, shadows, holes, cliffs, and other threats. It explores for false impressions, pre-conceived ideas, second agendas and extraneous input. feasibility is about creating a context for whatever is projected-- its answers are as fundamental and decisive as “Yes” and “No”. Feasibility is a method for establishing a reasonable perspective of what could or can happen with everything considered. Architects seek feasibility in using specific systems, materials, etc., in the conditions and circumstances of their projects. Project Representatives usually will have the knowledge and sense of feasibility to know if their product[s] will meet project situations without elevating the chances of failure or other risks to the project [i.e., will the product do the job being assigned to it when it is not a “normal” use]. Feasibility is necessary in terms of clarifying conflicting considerations; of assessing one aspect opposed to others; and providing insight to conditions and circumstances to be reckoned with. It does NOT design, restrict, set limits, forestall creative thought, over detail, fix or set single solutions or paths forward! It should stimulate and not stymie. Feasibility is the function following Strategic Planning and is the “device” needed to approach Square One of any program or project. It studies some refinement of the planning positions but does not resolve any of obvious project problems. Yes, we can do it MUST be followed [quickly??] by a “Let’s go about it in this way”!
