We have used “Deep Textured Stainless Steel” by General Partitions Mfg. Corp. or "SierraSeries® Solid Color Reinforced Composite (SCRC) Toilet Partitions" Bobrick. |

Stainless steel, or any metal partition for that matter, can be dented or otherwise damaged. For high abuse areas I have been specifying solid, high density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP) panel meterial. This material is thru color and made from recycled milk bottles. Most partition manufacturers have HDPE or PP in their product line. |

All materials have their advantages and disadvantages. HDPE and especially PP are graffiti-resistant. Both materials can be cut or carved with a knife. Both support combustion (tho Class A formulations are available from some manufacturers). It's a good idea to specify metal heat-sink strips to be applied to the bottom edges of HDPE and PP panels to dissipate heat; the panels can be damaged by holding a match beneath exposed bottoms of doors and panels. |

For several projects where the Owner was concerned about the abuse toilet partitions would receive, I specified solid core stainless steel partitions with a textured face. These are very heavy, but very resistant to scratches and dents. Graffiti is still an issue, but can be controled with good maintenance. Several manufacturer's offer these as an option (not cheap). If doing ceiling hung, you will need to beef up the supports. |

Stainless steel is industrial looking. Looking for a mirror finish? |

Try the patterned or textured stainless steel It looks better than the plain - no so industrial. Don't use mirror finish - shows all the fingerprints, hard to keep clean. |

So who makes the stainless steel partitions that have textured or brushed pattern surfaces? Anyone have suggestions for firms that make truly interesting toilet partition hardware, rather than your usual boring zinc? Has anyone successfully used solid surfacing? |

John-- Try Global, Accurate and Bradley for textured SS. Have used solid surface-- BUT these must be made custom [or did when we used them] by a solid surface fabricator, and are not standard with a TP outfit. Hardware gets messy! as to source, etc. |

Check the metal partition manufacturers - I don't remember who, but there are some that have the textured s.s. as a standard By solid surfacing do you mean "Corian" or solid phenolic like Trespa? I specify solid phenolic a lot and haven't had any issues other than attempting to convince my interiors people to stop trying to select a specific mfgr of the the solid phenolic material - that's up to the partition mfgr and who they purchase from. |
