Construction Specialties spec and detail information for lightshelves is pitiful and non-existent.

I am truly hoping one of you has a couple of spec paragraphs already written up on lightshelves and is willing to share it?

Thank you!

Tracy - Look at Nysan Shading Systems. They've got a light shelf with integrated blind pocket.

2.1 FIXED LIGHT SHELF DAYLIGHTING SYSTEM
A. Manufacturer
1. Basis of Design: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide products by Nysan Shading Systems, Ltd., or approved equal.
B. Materials
1. Aluminum and steel hardware and brackets:
2. Aluminum Sheet: Flat sheet complying with ASTM B 209 (ASTM B 209M), Alloy 6061-T6, and temper recommended by aluminum producer and finisher for type of use and finish indicated.
3. Mounting brackets:
a. System to be attached to mounting brackets to be supplied by the manufacturer of the fixed light shelf system. Brackets to fix to:
1) Steel work behind the wall system using engineered steel or aluminum spacers to take up the distance between the structure and the wall finish,
b. Mounting brackets shall be manufactured from engineered wall thickness to support the full weight of the system (light shelf and roller shades) and applied loads including the safety ratio as determined by the local building and construction codes.
c. Mounting assembly will be equipped with attachment provision for roller shade integration, as appropriate
4. Light Shelf Daylighting Solar Control System:
a. Fabricated from multi-wall polycarbonate glazing sheets extruded from LEXAN resin. Each sheet to be 3/8” thick, and be opal white in color.

Things might have changed since Hunter Douglas took over, so you should confirm with the manufacturer.

Hope this is of some help.
