Tnemec and comparable manufactuers

Who do you typically have as equals to Tnemec on your projects? This would be a project in the midwest if that has any bearing on who you may suggest. Thanks much. I say tried because I did not get much satisfaction. They really seem to be focussed on very specific markets, and high performance coatings for the commpercial market are not among them: the industrial coatings division is part of their automotive coatings. This seems to me like a product line cited by Tnemec as a competitor that would not be readily available to the contractors involved in typical commercial products. I had a similar reaction to the high performance coatings divisions of PPG. Keeler and Long being focussed on the power industry and Ameron being focussed on infrastructure. This doesn't mean these coatings won't perform, of course, but with distribution channels and support services being focussed in another direction, I would be reluctant to name these products. However, PPG's architectural line does include appropriate high-performance products. I think that most of the manufacturers of standard architectural finishes make high performance products that compete appropriately with Tnemec for the types needs we have on buildings (no tank linings, bridges, or dairy plants). Working with them has worked well for me. Unfortunately for Tnemec, they have missed some of my business because they don't put their performance test results in their binder while others do. If I'm under a deadline, I may not take the time to call them to get this info, so I spec others. I also spec Tnemec and Devoe (from ICI) as alternates for some applications. Carboline has come thru for me on numerous occasions and in an instance a few years ago was the only one who could do what I needed. I haven't found any S-W products that come up to the Carboline & Tnemec products for the most part. Ameron made excellent marine coatings, but their industrial coatings left something to be desired. Hopefully this will change with their acquisition by PPG.
