Does anybody have any experience with Keim Mineral Paints. It's a silicate paint developed in Germany over 100 years ago.

Although I didn't specify the product, Keim coatings were used extensively on exposed concrete surfaces of several 1960s-era high-rise dorm buildings at Univ of Penn. The product was recommended & spec'd by the historical consultant, who apparently had very favorable experience with it on past projects.

From what I know, the application was successful. The dorms have been renovated over a period starting a few years ago. I can't say how the coating has held up, but it is expected to have a long life because of a special bond between the mineral coating & concrete, which is superior to paint.

We used Keim products for the restoration of the plaster ceiling of the Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle. Some of you may remember me asking about plaster for that project a while back. We wanted to keep as much of the original plaster ceiling substrate as possible and we needed plaster products that would be fully compatible and would allow the substrate to breathe. We used Keim Universal Render for the plaster base and skim coats and we used Keim Biosil as the topcoat. It is a recent installation, but so far it has worked very well and everyone has been very satisfied with it.

In my case the project architect wants to use this product in lieu of paint on Hardie Plank siding.
