Has anyone specified this product for interior steel framing and found it to save money as its manufacturer, Dietrich, claims? |

It is my understanding that Dietrich now only makes framing with this product designation. So, if you include Dietrich in your specs as a manufacturer, you have implicitly specified Ultrasteel. Notwithstanding their recommended spec language changes to the contrary, Ultrasteel framing complies with all currently referenced industry standards. Therefore, changes to your specs to include this product are superfluous. I should add that I appreciate the innovation introduced with this product with respect to saving material and that I will continue to include Dietrich as a listed manufacturer. I have not heard of Ultrasteel showing up on any of our projects, so I cannot comment on any realized cost savings. |

We had a recent lunch and learn from Dietrich. Info was products in markets up east, and to be rolled out as far west as Louisville, Ky during July-August; moving slowly westward thereafter. Understand this is now projected as their standard. Lighter "gauge" [thickness] material with dimpling that makes it stronger overall [new design tables available] By the bye, this is a process from another source that Dietrich has purchased. Same also available through Clark-Western, so it is competitive! |

It is being used on a large project now. It showed up about half way through. (with a proper submittal and explanation, of course) The contractor loves the stuff. Handles better, cuts better, is more forgiving, can hang by itself (temporarily) in a ceiling track without the use of screws (but you gotta put the screws in later). Foreman said it saves labor ($$$). I was also told by Dietrich that this is the way they are making them now. Seems like a good thing. I was pretty impressed when I saw it at CSI in March. |

"05:14 pm - Hey, where's our samples?" "06:16 pm - at my doorstep...the Ultrasteel sample has arrived" Once again proving the power of the 4specs.com discussuon board to get things done quickly? Colin should market this one! |

Is this for interiors only [SSMA minimum thicknesses (mils) 18, 27, and 30 (drywall)]? Light gage metal studs for interiors used to come dimpled to aid the tip of the screws to catch and not wander. Worked also. Wayne |

Well, see Jerome, when you're "really, really" good you see an ad; invite the rep in for lunch and learn, and embarass him into leaving the samples [actually he didn't want to be bothered in carrying them back to his car!]. Then you don't have to wait and wonder about the samples. But then getting samples, means you're on somebody's list! |
