Has anyone heard of fire rated doors being tested to ASTM E119? BTW, E119 is a fire test for wall assemblies. That I could find, floor doors, overhead coiling doors, folding panel partitions, and fire glazing assemblies are all tested to this standard but not swinging fire doors. The reason why I am asking is that IBC 2003 706.7 limits you to 120 square feet of opening and not more than 25 percent of the wall. Exception #3 allows you to increase the size of openings if you have a door opening assembly that is tested to E119. |

David, Such doors are known as "Temp Rise" doors and are faily common. You can actually get all glass temp rise doors from TGP (www.fireglass.com) and others. Beware, such doors (all glass) will be very heavy as the glass make-up is thick in order to prevent heat transmission as required by ASTM E119. |

I am just looking for an ordinary 45 minute rated flush wood door. So far I can't find any manufacturers that meet this test. |
