I have both Microsoft Word 2003 and Word 2013 installed on the same computer. I am able to open all Word type documents files(doc and docx) in new Word 2013. Every once in a while my computer likes to open a Word document in the old Word 2003. I can't figure out why it does that since the default is Word 2013.

Any ideas?

Open a directory with a doc file, right click on the file name and a window will open. It will suggest programs to use to open the file. Select the bottom entry which is probably "Choose Default Program" click the one you want - say Word 2013 and the window will close.
