So you wish you could show adhesives on drawings but you weren't sure how, right (?!?!): http://www.adhesives.org/Portals/0/adhesives_org/Library/CADSymbol/Adhesive-Use-Demo-2-2.swf http://www.adhesives.org/Library/AdhesiveCADSymbol.aspx sister page at the Whole Building Design Guide: http://www.wbdg.org/news/release_061509.php (Call it 3D CAD or whatever you like, it is headed in a BIM direction so I posted it here.) Is anyone else also wondering what they picture us putting in the specs? PART 1 - GENERAL (Not Used) PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 As indicated. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 As indicated. |

from their explanation: " What we learned was that these 'end-users' desired a way to graphically represent an adhesive on a CAD drawing." I wasn't aware that folks were having problems drawing a sealant joint and that this was such a concern. They must be working on either VERY expensive projects, or very small projects.... |

By embedding all of the specification parameters each time you call out adhesive, I guarantee that you will get variations that you do not want. Assuming that you got it all right when originally input if a change it made it will be difficult to find and change all instances. Because the informatin is distributed it will be difficult for somebody to review what is being used to determine if changes are needed. The challange is to understand when and how to use BIM to eliminate problems and be more effective. The problem is that it isn't politically correct. |
