For various joints in connection with roofing, flashing, roof/wall joints, etc., any one heard of DURATHANE?

Who is the manufacturer? Indication to us is Tremco, but we find no such product on their site or in their binder.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks very much, Tracy.
Do you have any experience with or knowledge of Republic?

If I remember correctly, Tremco is part of Republic Powdered Metals (RPM) now. I'm not familiar with the Durathane product.

Wow, Tracy, got into a real mess.
Tremco is an affiliate of RPM, International, Inc., but does not appratenly provide the DURATHANE product which is out of the Republic Powered Metals organization.

FYI for general consumption-- RPM INT. includes a zillion products/companies, so beware of how and what you use in your specs as sources. Check out www.rpmintl.com

RPM vaguely resembles Degussa in that respect.

Ralph,

Don't forget recent acquisitions of Illbruck and Tamms. We should pay you for your hard work here!

In any case, one mention about sealants on the roof--they should tried to be utilized as part of a "belts and suspenders" system where they will be protected against weathering (i.e. on the termination bar located under the counterflashing). Anytime sealants are used on the roof they will become a maintenance item for the building owner as they age (the sealants age not the building owner). Sealants are a necessary evil but whenever possible they should be contained as part of an overall assembly.

We just use Pooky #2 by Whoosy-whatsit.

Seems to work okay, and haven't found anyone yet who can't get it.

As a roofing applicator and consultant, maybe you can consider the following; Kemper is a great flashing product currently used by most top manufacturers as penetration and flashing terminations. It is used with their 20 Year NDL warranty. Eventhough most top manufacturers use their own brand , most are manufactured by kemper. You should verify the roof applied and manufacturers binder as to flashings and penetrations.
