Does anybody know of a product that is real wood veneer laminated to steel doors?

Steelcraft has a product that is not real wood and looks rather cheap. I know I have seen real unfinished wood on a steel frame before.

My situation is having to use a conclead overhead door operator in a wood frame in a church project.

Thanks!

Why do you want a steel door?

What type of overhead door operator are you using?

David,

Someone may actually make such a product, but just the veneer skin on the steel would not be a good idea at al. The veneer would be too easily damaged.

You could apply wood paneling to the door. That is done all the time. Can't do it to a labeled door though, it voids the label.

Doug,

"This is the church and this is the steeple. Open the doors and see all the people."

Richard,

I actually just need a wood clad frame. The reason is that I want to install a LCN 2610 pneumatic auto door opener.

David,

Been there, done that!

I would suggest using a solid wood door of at least 2 inches thick to accomodate the cutout for the closer track, and make sure that you check the template for the LCN 2610 - it sits pretty close to the face of the frame.

Richard,

The LCN 2610 is concealed in frame door operator. Since it mounts up inside the 4 inch frame head, only a steel frame will work.

I will look pretty odd to have wood doors and trim throughout the church yet the fancy wood entrance door has a steel frame.

Suggestions?

David,

I assumed a steel frame, but if memory serves me, the closer body still sits very close to the face of the frame. I have run wood trim over the face of the steel frame. I haver also installed this same closer in wood frames as well.
