Does anyone know of a standard out there for sack and patch concrete finish that has good photos?

I usually note sack and patch finish then come to some conclusion in the field as to what is acceptable.

I have the ASCC Guide for Surface Finish of Formed Concrete (BTW-excellant resource) that shows the concrete before a sack and patch finish.

The correct term for this is Grout Cleaned Finish, check ACI for requirements.

Thanks...Would you explain the term a little bit more? I will review ACI.

Julie-
In order for the grout cleaning to be invisible, the worker will have to adjust the grout color because it won't be consolidated the same way as the concrete wall, and that adjustment takes both experience and a good eye. You always have to ask for a mockup of this type of finishing.

what you are doing when you "sack and rub" a finish is use a burlap sack with a grout mixture (or you can use cork, or some other means) to fill in the minor void holes, even out the color and smooth out the finish -- you're using grout to "clean the surface", hence the grout cleaned finish name. ACI does refer to it that way.

however, it is subjective -- and there is no objective way to define what is acceptable. Hence, the mockup/sample panels. pick some area on the interior of the building that will be covered up with a finish surface and have them use that as the mockup location.

Thanks Anne.
As you discribed is usually what I have done. Of course you were the spec writer for most of my past experience I believe so that makes sense. :-) I am having to edit a school district's standard and I want to make sure I get the request of a mock-up in the spec. I was just curious if anyone out there had created a standard. Thanks again!
