Make sure that the contractor is responsible for temporary bracing and shoring to maintain the structural integrity of structure to remain. I've used it in a Division 2 Section, too, when elements of a building will be demolished completely prior to the start of construction. In your case, though, it seems like you will need to leave the shoring and bracing there for at least part of the construction. Putting it in Division 1 makes more sense in this case, as it will apply to and cover the entirety of the Work. William C.
