What sort of advantages do I get as a specification consultant with a DUNS Number - D&B has contacted me several times to 'update my file' as there appears to be interest by my creditors - funny thing is I don't have many creditors, so I am a bit perplexed by this and wonder what experiences my fellow specification consultants have had with this? |

Ignore them. DUNS is only important if you are trying to borrow money for a business. I expect if you were to borrow it would have to be signed as a personal guarantee in any case or as a second mortage on your home. I've ignored them for many years for a small company (other than 4specs) I run. Dire threats are hinted at, but no consequences as there are no plans to borrow money and we have cash for operations. |

Thanks, Colin I put them off for a few months due to my current crunch, but the phone conversation today raised flags in my head - your insight is most appreciated. |
