I am very saddened to learn of the passing of Jorgen Graugaard last August in Sarasota, FL. Jorgen was one of my mentors from the DC Metro Chapter CSI and later with Northern Virginia. He was a wonderful individual who could brighten a room just by entering. He was an incredibly positive person, always willing to share his knowledge and wisdom whenever asked.

I do remember that he took time out every afternoon for an apple. I guess the old saying is true; he did live a long, healthy life.

He is missed.

Jorgen will be well remembered, as a friend, mentor and for his insistence for danish to be served at all MAR morning caucuses at the CSI Shows. 😁

I first met Jorgen when I joined the CSI DC Metro chapter in 1978. He had a real passion for CSI, and was always willing to volunteer for a task or to work on a committee. His infectious enthusiasm was one of the reasons for my own continued involvement with CSI. Jorgen had his own specification consulting practice. Perhaps the best-known building he worked on was the Embassy of Finland in Washington, DC, one of the first "green" buildings, both literally and figuratively; see https://finlandabroad.fi/documents/3608726/0/Embassy+of+Finland+-+Willis+Bretz_08_small.jpg/00a38d71-5b19-776f-66a8-1131ec0b932d?t=1551885948992

Jorgen was President of the DC Metro Chapter from July 1977 to June 1979. He served two terms as Institute Director from July 1981 to June 1984. He was elevated to Fellowship in CSI in 1984. He was a charter member of both the Central Virginia and Northern Virginia Chapters before moving to Sarasota, where he led the group that chartered the Suncoast Chapter, and served as its founding President.
