Has anybody tried to register for this? I did, and found a multipage form. After I filled out a few pages with the obvious information (even though the site told me it had found me on the CSI records), the site asked me what sessions I wanted to attend for each time slot. A couple of them overlapped, and the site told me I had a conflict and refused to let me go further. It also didn't delete my conflicts so that I could go further. They returned a phone call, and advised that advance registration is required to attend the seminars and if one wants to change on site, you have to go to the registration desk and ask permission. 2-1/2 months out, I don't know exactly what I want to attend, and probably won't even at the time. I like to browse seminars to see what I want to listen to. I guess this is not possible now that CSI doesn't run its own show. I may just register for the exhibit hall, or I may not go at all. |

I registered online about two weeks ago. I felt like a beta tester. I experienced multiple system hangs and cryptic error messages. it took me about 4 hours over two days to complete the process. Jo is correct, you cannot book overlapping sessions. Note that if you select the orientation session on the first screen, it will not let you select any sessions on later screens that overlap with the orientation. At the time I did it, there was no explanation as to why I couldnt select the other sessions, I finally figured it out. Sounds like you do at least get a error message now. The process for registering a non-participant spouse was counter-intuitive, also. You cannot do this in one step, you must make a completely separate reservation (and go through all the screens again). Ostensibly, advance booking allows the organizers to "right size" the session rooms for the number of attendees. It does come across as overly rigid and inflexible. I would guess, however, that there will not be guards at the doors checking our itineraries. |

I could be wrong, but I thought that companion registration always had required a totally separate operation, making you go through the entire process a second time. I've forwarded the link to someone at the Institute to see if there isn't something they can say/do about the registration process. |

When I first attempted to register, the system had my name reversed; to them I was Frank Doug. Now I’ve been called a lot worse, but thought it would be better if they had it right so I sent an e–mail. They got it straightened out within 48 hours and I proceeded to register. I too found the mandatory selection of individual seminars very cumbersome but I made a choice for each one knowing that I’d probably change my mind later (like I’ve done many times over the years). If Jo’s report is really true that we’ll need “Permission” to change on-site, that’ simply Ridiculous and will cause an enormous backlash among us long-time attenders if we find we can’t attend a particular seminar because we don’t have a ticket. One can only hope they don’t take attendance at each one and penalize us in some fashion if we don’t show up for a seminar when we said we would ;-( |

Call Customer Service at HanleyWood to complain, to register for conflicting events, etc. The attempt by HanleyWood is to track electronically how many and who is at what session to allow them to properly staff and credit. They can and will do this manually (at the door), but would prefer not to. |

I called Hanley Wood to complain before I posted the first message. The person said that the show manager would call me. So far, it hasn't happened. |

I just received a call from the show manager, Janet Dalton. She said she appreciated my calling to her attention, the fact that I could not register for conflicting seminars, and then couldn't register at all. She is adding a code to the form, probably tomorrow, which will allow us to sign up for all seminars, and then decide what we want to do. This should solve the problem of registering, and should give us the flexibility to decide what we want to do as the convention moves on. She also said, if we see anything else, to please let them know. |
