If I take a training course which offers AIA/LU's, are they transferable to CSI/CEU's? Is this automatically done, or is this a self-report issue? I'm so used to signing in with my AIA number, I forget to ask if they take CEU's. Which brings up another point. Can you get LU's and CEU's at the same time for the same presentation, or is it one or the other? Or is it only which one the provider is offering?

As a recent MAI graduate, do I need to register with AIA to offer LU's? Are the CEU's automatically provided or is there more manual labor that I have to do to register my program? Do I have to register it with AIA and CSI both?

Brett-

I'm hoping all we need do is submit a copy of our AIA transcipt to CSI and to our states of registration and that would cover c.e. requirements. But I haven't had to do either CSI or state yet. Is it really that simple?

CSI does not have an automated system to track continuing education requirements for certification renewals, you have to self-report. My last CCS renewal required that I certify that I had completed the required hours of continuing education. The form did not ask for specifics.

As for offering AIA LUs for your MasterFormat presentations, you must be a registered AIA CES provider to submit LUs on behalf of AIA members. An AIA member firm or individual can become a registered provider for $150 per year. However, your local CSI chapter already has provider status through an agreement CSI (national) has with AIA. If the chapter sponsors your presentation, you can submit LUs for attendees to AIA CES through them. Your CSI chapter has a designated point of contact for the AIA CES and they can help you.
