We have a high profile project in an urban setting that will have a number of perforated aluminum panels as features on walls and for infill-panels in a fence. Since there is a high probability that something will get tagged, the designers are looking to provide an appropriate level of defense. My sense is that clear anodized without an anti-graffiti coating won't provide good service. Does anyone have experience with either anti-graffiti powdercoating or field-applied materials? Thanks. |

I agree with your sense that clear anodized aluminum won't serve your project well. I would think that scratching would be one of the challenges that the panels will face. Have you considered stainless steel, which can be re-ground or re-polished if scratched or painted? I don't know of a substance that can be applied to aluminum to resist tagging, but will watch this space. Good luck! |

I agree with Vivian. When the New York City subway system decided to finally conquer graffiti in a serious way a number of years ago, they ordered all their new subway cars to be clad in-and-out in stainless steel. They can essentially pressure wash and they're done. |
