One of my architects has asked if there is such a thing...does anybody know? I found breakaway clothes hooks in detention equipment, but no closet poles. I've found nothing in hospital equipment. This is for a psychiatric hospital to prevent suicide attempts (I don't want to think about "closet suicide"). |

Lynn, A&J Washroom accessories makes (or at least used to)a "Shower Curtain Rod" with collapsible brackets that might work for you. |

Years ago I work on a psychiatric hospital in Chicago. We specified a flexible plastic clothes rod. I think it was just ordinary PVC pipe. The rod sagged with a lot of clothes and would fall out if too much weight was applied. The problem is that the pole could be used as a weapon. My advice: Fixed shelves. No coat hangers. The paitents will just have to fold up all their clothes. It was sad working on the project and trying to figure out how someone could possibly hurt themselves or others. |
