Has anyone had any experience with internal blinds scratching a low E coating? A window representative said it might be a problem.

It seems to me that it might be a problem only if hte blinds come into contact with the coating and only if the coating were a soft coat. You could specifiy a lower performance hard coat.... |

Richard, Yes, this is a problem - but apparently only with the 'soft' coat low E coatings. Just a few days ago I was speaking with one of the factory reps (not an independent) for an internal blind manufacturer. I asked about the potential of the glass deflection with heat/cold and the blinds coming into contact with the glass. They said it is a definite possibility, but they expressed concern related to damage of 'soft coat' low E coatings, not hard coats, or other coating systems. These particular blinds were heavy gage aluminum extrusions, not the light weight blinds of some systems. William |
