I'm looking for a specification for a conventional, old-fashioned, masonry fireplace - complete with refractory brick, clay flue, metal damper and all. I realize this is more a residential thing and am having no luck finding a specification, although I've found a number of books I could buy. The problem is we need it immediately. Anyone have one they'd be willing to share? I'm going to query IMI, too; it wasn't on their list of questions. |

Go to the Brick Industry Assoc (BIA) web site and download Technical Notes 19A - Residential Fireplaces, Details and Construction Rev [May 1980] (Reissued Jan. 1988) That may help you develop a specification section.
