On 1 July 2009, NCARB will allow IDP interns—whether employed or not—to earn training units by completing LEED accreditation and by completing specified architecture-related certificate programs offered by the Construction Specifications Institute.

For more information go to http://www.ncarb.org/newsclips/2009/apr09_4.html

ps: As a member of USGBC and the CSI Certification Committee I think this is a HUGE vote of confidence for LEED and CSI Certifications !

Interesting that the Specifications and Materials Research category requires a minimum of 15 "training units" (one unit equals 8 hours of training in a work setting), and having a CCS certification earns only 5 units towards that minimum.

Given that the requirements to even sit for the CCS is five YEARS experience, or about 1200 IDP units, it seems a bit lopsided.

The disparity for the CCCA is similar.
