Did anyone else here log in to the Crosswalk presentation today? What are your thoughts?

I feel bad for the presenter. He wasn't prepared to address the questions that most CSI members would have and couldn't address the questions raised.

I hope CSI didn't pay a lot to play in traffic.

This seems like an interesting, esoteric exercise but I don't see a practical application, at least for design professionals. I certainly don't see a practical application in my day-to-day life and I'm one of the people who actually use both MF and UF often (but OmniClass almost never at this time).

I had initially thought it was more for developers, but then they made it sound like it applications for the rest of us shlubs. But they made it sound like it might have practical applications for design professionals.

I felt bad for the presenter, too. They should've set it up with someone who might know what practical application it has for design professionals. If it does.

I gather he got bombarded with questions about the practical application for design professionals.

Just saw another email about "Crosswalk" today. Since the last posts on this thread, has anyone found a use for this tool?
Does this appeal to spec people who start with Uniformat in schematic design and need to flip to Masterformat for construction documents?
Is it useful for cost estimators?
I don't do that, so I'm wondering how widespread is this tool's appeal?

Currently, this tool eliminates the need to get out your hardcopy or PDF of MasterFormat, UniFormat, or OmniClass to search for numbers and titles. I have asked that it be expanded to allow copy/paste functionality. Another feature that I plan on suggesting is find/replace.
