Currently I have been specifying sliding vinyl terrace doors in Section 085313 Vinyl Windows. Though they are made by the same manufacturer, they are not really windows. Where would you specify them? David G. Axt, CCS, CSI, SCIP Specifications Consultant Axt Consulting LLC |

1. If you want both products from the same manufacturer and installer, then continue specifying them as you are. The bidders will find them. 2. What is a "terrace door"? Michael Chusid, RA FCSI CCS 1-818-219-4937 www.chusid.com www.buildingproduct.guru |

I agree with Michael Chusid. At Ryan A+E, (part of the Ryan Companies), we have customized combined the windows spec section for bidder convenience on most of our Senior Living type projects. Vinyl-clad Patio and Terrace Doors are specified in the same section as the vinyl windows, primarily because they are supplied by the same manufacturer (i.e. Anderson or Pella) and installed by the same installer. I don't have the latest NAFS standard available to me, but a "Terrace Door" was a particular product type with relatively stringent standards. As I recall, they also were swinging, not sliding. When specifying the doors, you may want to align your terminology with the NAFS standard, if you're using that for performance |
