What MasterFormat number should I use for upward bifolding doors? I am specifying Wilson Industrial Doors as basis of design. https://wilsondoors.com/ David G. Axt, CCS, CSI, SCIP Specifications Consultant Axt Consulting LLC |

Here's what I use: 08 35 13.43 - Overhead Bifold Doors 08 XX 76 is bifolding doors where XX is 13 for metal, 14 for wood, 15 for plastic, and 16 for composite. I believe these are for your standard doors and not a specialty door, such as what you describe. Specialty doors are in 08 30 00, and 08 35 00 is specifically for folding doors and grilles. 08 35 13 is a narrow-scope number for folding doors, so I added a Level 4 number for an even narrower scoped number and title. I don't think the CSI police will cite you for creating another Level 3 number, such as 08 35 19. Ron Geren, FCSI, AIA, CCS, CCCA, SCIP www.specsandcodes.com |

The dry adhesive systems have their own limitations, so beware before specifying these. Some institutions have had experience w/ carpet tiles not remaining adhered and now only permit wet adhesive installation. As I understand it, they are particularly vulnerable to edge curling and similar problems in high traffic areas. When these systems were first introduced, I added TacTiles and LokDots to my office master. But in recent years they have rarely been used for projects I have worked on. Sorry -- my password saving software is apparently also saving previous posts. So the response above was copied from a previous message. I tried to delete it, but that function apparently times out after 30 minutes. Jeffrey Wilson CCS CSI SCIP Wilson Consulting Inc Ardmore PA |

David, FYI - Crown Doors, aesthetically, make similar doors, www.crowndoors.com. However, Crown's doors are hydraulic-cylinder-operated, i.e., no cables/wires. Crown doors are BOD for current project I'm working on. |
