Which versions of Masterformat are currently supported by CSI? Is there a version called Masterformat 2010? |

There was a MasterFormat 2010 Update. CSI supports MasterFormat in its current format. Updates are made annually, but are published biannually. I don't know how often MasterFormat.com is updated, whether it's annually or biannually. Ron Geren, FCSI, AIA, CCS, CCCA, SCIP www.specsandcodes.com |

I don't think so, the current version is Masterformat 2004 with 2016 update, where on the CSI website is Masterformat 2016 listed? The question came up while working on a HUD project, HUD claims Masterformat 2010 is the current recognized format? |

Currently MasterFormat is at 2016 version. It's updated on a continual basis as recommendations come in, but republished periodically. I'm still using my MF04 book, but keep an updated list of numbers and titles that can be found on Masterformat.com. As I remember log-in used to be the same as your CSI log-in. |

Actually Wayne, I stand corrected the 2016 update is labeled as Masterformat 2016, now I must convince HUD of this. It would be nice if I had some proof from CSI. |

Like any standard, the adopting organization can pick any version they want. For example, the IBC identifies the reference standards it uses in Chapter 35, but some may not be the latest versions published at that time. HUD may say they are using the 2010 version, even though CSI has a 2016 version. Ron Geren, FCSI, AIA, CCS, CCCA, SCIP www.specsandcodes.com |

Ron, HUD is saying to use the version currently recognized by CSI, which they label as 2010. I guess they are behind a few years. Fortunately my agreement is based on Masterformat 2004 with 2016 update, which works for me, from now on I will refer to this as Masterformat 2016. |

Jerome, what can I say...it's the federal government. HUD is also still enforcing the 1984 Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS) for federally assisted housing and not the more recent (2004) ABA Standards that has been adopted by every other federal agency. The hardcopy is titled MasterFormat, 2016 Edition. It's no longer MasterFormat 20xx, with 20yy update. |

I don't think there is a need to convince HUD of anything. My interpretation of their intention is to use the 6-digit numbering system, and don't imagine they would care (or even notice) if current section numbers & titles were used instead of 2010 versions. It seems to me most of the changes since 2010 have been additive, w/ few substantial changes to previous numbers & titles. Jeffrey Wilson CCS CSI SCIP Wilson Consulting Inc Ardmore PA |

I have received so few comments from HUD Reviewers in the past, its hard to comment. MEP has not been so lucky. Unfortunately the rules are changing, as do the Peer Reviewers, each with their own priorities. Today I received a document from a Lender describing their Architectural Review Criteria (I wish I had this document prior to signing my current agreement). I guess answers will come to me as I continue to prepare specs for HUD projects. I do agree that HUD Reviewers could probably care less about Section Numbers, but I do. |
