I am specifying a vegetated climbing wall that is just a fancy stainless steel welded wire fence. What section number/title have you used? David G. Axt, CCS, CSI, SCIP Specifications Consultant Axt Consulting LLC |

We have specified various types of green screen assemblies. I've typically specified them in one of the 055000-series metal fabrications sections. Yes, they're stainless steel, but the stainless is used for functional rather than decorative purposes, and appearance is not a top priority. |

When the project has the services of a Landscape Architect providing full services including drawings and specifications, they put it where ever they want to, including DIV 05 - METALS, DIV 12 - FURNISHINGS (Site Furnishings) or DIV 32 - SITE IMPROVEMENTS. I may not agree with their choice, but if it is reasonably plausible I will not complain. I do insist that that if they are using DIV 05 they adjust their Section Name & Number so that it doesn't create a conflict with my DIV 05 Sections, such as adding the word "Site" or "Landscape" to the Section name and tweaking the Section number. If they ask my advice I like to have them add 32 to the Section Number as in 05 50 32 - Site Metal Fabrications, giving it a secret handshake to coordinate with their DIV 32. When I am preparing the Section I put it in either the 055000 Series for Metal Fabrications, or sometimes 055800 Series for Decorative Metal. I will most likely prepare the Section if it is attached to the building, but I would prefer the Landscape Architect to prepare it if it is the free-standing fence style green screen. |

I would probably use 057000 Decorative Metal if it involved a custom-fabricated assembly. For manufactured systems, I typically use 1082XX for freestanding or wall-attached plant support systems. If it is truly a fence, 323119 Decorative Metal Fences is suitable for manufactured or custom-designed tyes. Jeffrey Wilson CCS CSI SCIP Wilson Consulting Inc Ardmore PA |

How about a subsection to 329500, Exterior Planting Support Structures? |

I just now had the same question and found this thread. I also noticed that 4specs puts this item in Section 07 0840 which is not correct; that should be "Commissioning of Thermal and Moisture Protection" I think there should be two separate sections for this, one for interior and another for exterior living walls. |

MasterFormat does indeed have two separate sections for this, one for interior and another for exterior living walls. 097753 Vegetated Wall Systems (this is a child of 097700 Special Wall Surfacing) 329500 Exterior Planting Support Structures (includes trellis, treillage, green wall, arbor, and climbing support netting) |
