Robin, what I do is stick with the concept of the MasterFormat numbering system and for this would instruct the Natatorium consultant to use the next level down in the numbering system from the duplicated one.
Actually what I do up front with this is send out a note that tells consultants working in the same division to coordinate their sections and that duplicated sections will not be permitted. i give them 2 options, one as above or 2, the more subordinate of the 2 can review the section of the main consultant and mark it up providing inserts for the main to incorporate.
I have had it go both ways.
I don't like the idea of labeling the section titles or numbers with the sub scope as it has the potential of opening up the entire project manual to the GC to 'believe' that all related to this special area will be specifically labeled Natatorium. And that is obviously not correct, but it can lead to the RFI game and potential cost additions.
I try always to avoid anything that can lead to fragmentation of the project manual, and staying with the numbering system and accommodating this kind of thing through narrower scopes of numbering works fine.
