Is it still true that Division 00 items are called "documents" and Division 01 through 49 items are called "sections"? |

http://masterformat.com/about/applications_guide MasterFormat Structure Groups and Subgroups All of the following MasterFormat Groups and Subgroups can be included in Project Manuals: Procurement and Contracting Requirements Group (Division 00) contains: Introductory Information: Indexing and general information Documents are found at the beginning of project manuals. The issue is that some, perhaps most, documents in Division 00 are 1) not issued under the design professional's seal and 2) are not 'specifications' as governed by registration statutes. This is an important legal distinction. My firm refers to items in Div 00 as 'Document xx xx xx' and the TOC clearly identifies 'Sections' in Divisions 01 and following as specifications to clarify this distinction that was inherent in MF95. |

I concur with Louis. This is what we do as well. And some of these are forms, or things like table of contents. Those are not specification "sections", they are documents. William C. Pegues, FCSI, CCS, SCIP Affiliate WDG Architecture, Washington, DC | Dallas, TX |

Also, Division 01 follows SectionFormat - or should I say SectionFormat covers Division 01 - and Division 00 does not. Anyone who has ever dealt with the Owner's world in Division 00 knows there is never a "DocumentFormat". George A. Everding AIA CSI CCS CCCA Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies St. Louis, MO |
