Division 07.

Rain screen is not a product, but a method of attaching a cladding.

What is the end use of the "wood" in your posting? Is it the cladding? Is it wood furring strips behind a wood cladding to form a vented/draining cavity?

Wood (preservative treated) furring strips could be specified in rough carpentry or with the wood siding.

My client is intending to apply a compsite wood product as a "screen" over a stucco covered masonry wall, imagine if you would a product like Trex suspended vertically from an exterior wall, they are actually looking at European manufacturers, one being Resysta. Its become a popular treatment in south florida recently, another product being considered is Prodema. None of these products are proven to withstand the harsh salt air and UV's, but that does not seem to matter.

Stay as far away from Prodema as possible. It doesn't even stay together in interior applications (unless they have totally changed the product). In my last position, I was sent photos of delamination in an interior lobby. We were considering using it for an exterior and, based on the photos from a neutral source, advised the Owner against it. The photos were from a residence (either apartment or condo) in Chicago.

This is an exterior cladding, even if used as a rain screen. I suggest one of the numbers/titles in 074200 Wall Panels.
