Ron, could you kindly advise on a spec section for these? and also my client would like them used on a project close to the ocean, since the mechanism is zinc coated steel, anyone have an opinion on how these will perform over time. |

yes, now that I think about it a few weeks ago I had this discussion with David Metzger on 4specs, but these are not being used for traffic control or protection but rather for people and for lighting. |

I'm confused. Why would you want retractable bollards for a pedestrian application? Do they want removable bollards? Any type of manufactured bollard can be specified in 32 39 13 Manufactured Metal Bollards. Fabricated bollards can be specified in 05 50 00 Metal Fabrications. Fortunately I am not the architect of record, I only write the specs, in this case there may be an occasional police or emergency vehicle on the promenade, but for the most part there is no vehicle traffic to contain, just people, and drunken Jimmy Buffet fans...Urbaco is the manufacturer of these retractable bollards. |

In that case, use the Division 32 number. Ron Geren, AIA, CSI, CCS, CCCA, SCIP www.specsandcodes.com |

Within the past 12 months there was a pretty good article on these in the CSI magazine, with a good reason for them to control traffic during various times of the day and events.... Actually, I think it was for turn table bollard devices, but I'll bet the spec number would be similar. |
