If anyone can help, I'm looking for the appropriate location for a draft control curtain for aircraft hangars. Fabrilok makes these, but I am stumped as to where it belongs in MF04. Looking through the book, it looks like a 10 44 00 Fire Protection Specialty, but would most likely need a new number. Or do I venture into 23 51 13 Draft Control Devices? It doesn't really fit in either location. Thanks |

I set up a special section for these - 07-8600. http://www.4specs.com/s/07/07-8600.html I was trying to classify Smoke Guard (elevators) and decided to put it in the same area as firestopping. MF2004 has 07-8000 as Fire and Smoke Protection Colin Gilboy Publisher, 4specs.com 435.654.5775 - Utah 800.369.8008 |

The section 08 3400 Special Function Doors seems more appropriate to me. |

Thank you, I wasn't really thinking door because it just hangs from the roof structure, a passive smoke barrier for large open areas. Colins suggestion works well, and since it's on 4specs, it's as good as the MF04 book to me. |

I would probably start with 07 87 00 "Smoke Containment Barriers" and make a level 3 for suspended fabric smoke barriers. |

For your purpose 10 8223 Interior Grilles and screens appears to be on point. "Includes grilles and screens of wood, metal, plastic and other materials connected to permanent construction and used for a variety of purposes." |

07 8700 also makes sense and may be easier to find for a contractor. |

Sorry, I must disagree with you all. Coming from an Engineering/Transportation specifier... I would create a new number/title under either of the groups 34 73 00 Airfield Construction or 34 77 00 Transportation Equipment. IMHO, Divisions 34 and 35 still need more work by the Committee but these would be the closest to your needs for now. Karen L. Karen, If you look at Divisions 34 and 35, they do not include any buildings, only the 'horizontal' construction elements found in transportation projects. Like a train station, airport terminal, or warehouse, a hanger is still just a building with a particular purpose. But I also think that these are definitely not Division 08 items. Probably belong in Division 10 as a specialty. |
