I need to specify some coatings by Textured Coatings of America (XL-70 BridgCote with Silane) as a finish coat for some walls. Which section number would be the appropriate one for it? Thanks in advance!

Okay, here's another one:

Structural Glass Guardrails

No metal work involved, other than the stainless steel studs/bosses/standoffs that anchor the glass sheet to the face of the floor stucture.

For a better visual, product in question is "Optik" Guardrail with stainless steel boss fastenings, as manufactured by HDI Railing Systems. Another would be the Structural Glass system as manufactured by Mogg Constructive.

No metal uprights, no metal channel, no metal top rail, no metal handrail (except at stairs). Just point-fixed structural glass sheet.

Didn't see anything in Division 08 that would work; 05 73 13 - Glazed Decorative Metal Railings seems to . . . metalic.

Any suggestions?

David:

I agree. Division 08 just doesn't fit (it isn't an opening), and there's not enough metal to warrant a place in Division 05.

Personally, I think Division 10 is a good location; specifically, 10 80 00 "Other Specialties" (although I have a revision into the MF Maintenance Task Team to retitle this "Miscellaneous Specialties"). Maybe a new Level 2 number, such as 10 89 00 "Structural Glass Railings."

And another one - modular stainless steel insulated walls, complete with gasketed access doors; the walls are floor to ceiling, but it's not a controlled environment, and not necessarily a complete enclosure. I'm looking at 13 2123 (but that's a room, and these are only walls) or creating 13 2151 and titling it ? (Right now, I'm working with an old section titled Modular Stainless Steel Walls and numbered 11712) This is a wall as part of a tunnel cage-wash area.

As to structural glass: we're going to need more than just one section devoted to this as structural glass walks as well as guardrails, and other new products made of glass are brought into construction. What about that structure over the Grand Canyon? What section number would be assigned to that glass?
