(See other thread "number Please" for previous discussion on this topic) Anonymous: I agree - it's something I learned as high school newspaper editor. However, since more jurisdictions are demanding these, I'm wondering if a one page section that would show up in the Table of Contents wouldn't make more sense.

I've never had anyone complain about not being able to find Knox Boxes in Section 087100 - Door Hardware.

It may be overkill, but we've got them specified in Section 104116 - Fireman's Key Box. My reluctance to put them in 087100 is that quite often we hire a hardware consultant to write that section, especially if lots of security/alarm system coordination will be required. Having the Knox Box in a separate section means I don't have to ensure the hardware consultant includes it.

Jerry, Good point; I hadn't even thought of that. We also often have a consultant writing the hardware section. I was only thinking in terms of making it easier for the AHJ to find.
