(See other thread "number Please" for previous discussion on this topic) Anonymous: I agree - it's something I learned as high school newspaper editor. However, since more jurisdictions are demanding these, I'm wondering if a one page section that would show up in the Table of Contents wouldn't make more sense. |

I've never had anyone complain about not being able to find Knox Boxes in Section 087100 - Door Hardware. |

It may be overkill, but we've got them specified in Section 104116 - Fireman's Key Box. My reluctance to put them in 087100 is that quite often we hire a hardware consultant to write that section, especially if lots of security/alarm system coordination will be required. Having the Knox Box in a separate section means I don't have to ensure the hardware consultant includes it. |

Jerry, Good point; I hadn't even thought of that. We also often have a consultant writing the hardware section. I was only thinking in terms of making it easier for the AHJ to find. |
