We mostly installed Tectum on CMU at gymnasium walls. Sometimes, though, we hang in in a suspended T grid system.

I have Fixed Sound-Absorptive Panels reserved for fabric wrapped fiber glass wall panels.

Robert,

Thanks. I did not see the 097723 Fabric Wrapped Panels section. I have probably been incorrectly using 098413 Fixed Sound Absorptive Panels. What is supposed to be in that section anyway?

Why isn't 097723 Fabric Wrapped Panels in the 09800 Acoustic Treatment sections anyway? They are acoustical panels after all.

Anon,

I don't use the dot thirteen Level 4 numbers due to my trisadekaphobia. I feel that it brings bad luck to the project.

You spelled it wrong: triskaidekaphobia; how could anyone figure it out unless you get the triskaideka right?

but I agree; using the .13 introduces gremlins into a project manual that may find their way into a project.

David

I think that your problem is that in the back of your mind you are still thinking of MasterFormat as a product classification table - it is not - there is not necessarily one location in MasterFormat for every product - the same product may be used for different functions or work results and thereby be located in different locations.

In terms of the type of product you are referring to there are a bunch of places you might put a finish material that also has acoustical absorption properties depending upon what you are doing with it in what location:
09 54 43 Stretched-Fabric Ceiling Systems
09 77 00 Special Wall Surfacing
09 83 00 Acoustic Finishes
09 84 00 Acoustic Room Components

I don't think there is "one right location" for the product - there are several alternative locations where the product may be appropriately specified depending on how the product is being used for that project.

A fabric wrapped panel, used for a tack or display surface does not need to be acoustic. And just for the record I dislike the .13 also.
