Welcome and best of luck to you. Don't be shy about asking questions. Just remember that often with free advice you get what you pay for. I, for one, don't give refunds. |

So, I'm the first female representative? Yes, we are great, too. I would also give a full refund for the free advice, if requested. This is a great place to learn and an equally great place to ask. The contributors have likely been through whatever you're trying to get through and are happy to share their experiences. You just might find your new best friend here. These guys are wonderful! Welcome. |

Don't we have some sort of hazing ritual for newbies? David G. Axt, CCS, CSI, SCIP Specifications Consultant/Web Publisher www.localproductreps.com |

David, I thought specification writing was a continuous hazing. I'm just kidding. I actively sought this niche in the industry and have not regretted it for an instant. Really though, this forum is a great place to learn and to share triumphs and tragedies alike. You will find knowledgeable and very intelligent people who are extremely generous with their experience and expertise. Welcome to this most excellent brotherhood/sisterhood, Dewayne. |

Thanks for the warm welcome. Being in Utah in the winter, we are plagued with serious smog which amounts to a continual haze for weeks at a time. Might this count for what ever ritual would be appropriate? :-( |

Sure, if any of us could remember what that was - I think we're all hazy and smoggy. |

Welcome Dewayne, and Lynn, I don't remember being hazed, but then again, they don't let me out of the basement. Since that is the best environment to grow mushrooms. |

Ah, yes, mushrooms! I have my little ceramic mushroom on a shelf in the secretary my MIL used to have. It serves as a reminder when I get frustrated over some of the things I'm responsible for now. My first car grew mushrooms in the back seat - true story! (not intentional on my part) |

Mr. Ganter, if I have one peeve about being a specification writer it is that I do get the mushroom treatment from time to time. I combat that with a daily perambulation around the office to see what is happening under my nose and behind my back. I learn the most amazing things that way. |

Lynn: Somehow I am having a hard time imagining mushrooms growing in the back seat of your car. :-) "Fast is good, but accurate is better." .............Wyatt Earp |

Don't know how it happened, but one day I opened the back door to put my books on the seat (which I rarely did because I rarely had a passenger and my books would go on the front passenger seat); I was giving a friend a ride. And there they were! Mushrooms growing out of the crack between the seat cushion and the back cushion! |
