Not a specwriter nor architect, except if you use the term as the creator of the rubber band ball shot, he was the architect of basketball tom foolery and fun. Since I don't twitter or face book, I wanted to pay my respect to a great man, perhaps some of the other old farts on this forum remember Meadowlark. When I was in my teens a long time ago my father took me and my brother to see a Harlem Globetrotters game, wow, I became a basketball fan immediately. But Meadowlark did much more than play basketball he was a role model to many and so much fun to watch. Over the years I tried to repeat the magic of that day, but it never happened. As did my devotion to basketball. For those who never hear of Meadowlark Lemon, you should google him.

Globetrotters ruled! I used to pity the poor Washington Generals, the minor league pro basketball team that perpetually lost to the Globetrotters when they played in DC. They were true magicians.

And they were gentlemen. No foul-mouthed or mean-spirited trash-talking, but innocent fun. And my, could they play basketball.

Definitely a treat to watch! The ball-handling alone was worth the show. And you're right - good clean fun for all involved - audience and entertainers.

Although Meadowlark is gone, the Globetrotters are still touring, their website says they will be in several northern cities this holiday week, seems like they must have several touring teams, they will be in Miami nearest to me at end of Feb next year, I'll be going with my daughter. http://www.harlemglobetrotters.com/full-schedule
