"On this day, Tuesday March 24 at 11:15 am in Seattle Washington, ____________ from ____________ Architects, apologized to David G. Axt from Axt Consulting LLC, for being rude and blunt with him. ___________ then went on to compliment and thank David for his fine work and helping out ______________ Architects." The architect was just being a total jerk to me throughout the whole project. We met today and I proved my value to him. He totally "changed his stripes" after our meeting. David G. David, Sounds like the architect is the one who needs the plaque - for having the epiphany. Thousands of architects should be so insightful and fortunate. Good job helping them see the light. |

As an architect and specifier, I can tell you the epiphany won't last, maybe for a day or a week or maybe even the job, but what we (specifiers) do is constantly challenged, but we keep doing our jobs and hope for the best. I have clients for over 20 years that argue the same issues each and every job, no matter how much I educate them, its just the nature of the business. |

Here is one of my favorite examples: ESP Paint is called out on the drawings, we know there is no just thing as ESP Paint, ESP is an application and many different paints can be applied by ESP, yet it seems I have to constantly correct the Architect on this and make sure it is clearly defined in the specs, because in my world if a GC sees ESP paint on a job, he will automatically include the cheapest ESP paint available. |

And we know the contractors don't read the specs, they just look at the plans... http://architexts.us/2013/08/23/construction-administration-details/ |

(Takes plaque off the wall and throws it in the trash.) I spoke too soon. The architect is back to his old habit of hassling the specifier. Yesterday I told him that I will finish up the 100% DD, then he can find another specifier to finish the project manual. David G. Yup, I just translated it 'cause I didn't want to search for the "c cedilla" to make it correct. |

Yesterday the architect and I parted ways. I'm relieved. The project started off as a mess and was only getting worse. So much for that stupid plaque.

Too bad you threw it away. You could have sent it to the Architect, wrapped in black paper, with R.I.P. across the wrapping. |
