Continuing my previous thread (Oregon Doors), I'm still revising our wood door section. I had a meeting with VT/Eggers last week.
For manufacturers, I'm now listing Lambton, Masonite, Oregon, and VT Industries. Oshkosh did not comply with transparency requests.
What is the difference between WDMA TR-6 and TR-8? Which on is less hazardous to human health? Which one is more durable? Which one do you specify and why?
Are you including field quality control inspections, for fire rated doors and egress doors? Why or why not?
Thanks for your assistance!

This table should be useful, though it doesn't address all of your questions. It's a reformatted view of the information in AWS, with the scores for both opaque and transparent together in a single table.

When choosing a system, be sure to consider repairability. Some coatings offer superior performance, but are difficult to repair.

I wonder how many manufacturers offer a choice of transparent finishes. It seems like some of them would require a special line. How many manufacturers have more than one finish line?

The same goes for woodworking shops making cabinets.

Peter,
I think each factory is set up to do one type of TR-# finish, but I'm getting conflicting information from their websites. That's why I'm asking our esteemed forum. I am also asking manufacturers.
I think TR-8 is the newer and lower VOC version of TR-6, but some websites also list TR-2.
I think some manufacturers may be able to do a custom run of another TR-# if your Owner is willing to pay for and wait for delivery.
