When is it better to use Cast Stone vs Precast Concrete? This would be for architectural trim work, not panels nor columns. I understand Cast Stone is denser and more refined than Precast. And Cast Stone must comply with ASTM C1364. |

In my experience, appearance and durability are the primary considerations. Cast stone provides a more convincing replication of natural dimension stone, and is more resistant to deterioration. For applications that are not viewed closely or where cost is the primary concern, precast concrete may be the preferred material. Jeffrey Wilson CCS CSI SCIP Wilson Consulting Inc Ardmore PA |
