We are working on a project where we are using spray-on acoustic cellulose insulation. The Basis of Design Product is K-9 by International Cellulose Corporation. The Owner wants at least 3 products listed. The primary product that comes up in searches and that staff are familiar with is K-9. Does anyone know of other comparable products - if so, please advise. Thank you.

Depending on specific NRC performance criteria, you may want to consider USG Acoustical Plaster, Cafco Sound-Shield, or Pyrok Acoustment?

Ron - I had looked at Central Fiber, Hamilton, Greenfiber, and Nu-Wool; all those products are loose-fill/blown-in products for concealed/enclosed spaces (e.g., between studs) ...not self-adhering, coating/topical-like. exposed applications, as is K-13.

Owners can't always have what they want, but sometimes they get what they need.

I use K-13 all the time -- I think its a great insulation. There are a couple of other manufacturers -- take a look at www.cellulose.org for the Cellulose insulation manufacturer's association. Because its a wood-based product, many of the manufacturers are local, but I've used Fiberlite and Cellpak as comparables.
