Has anybody hear of this product/manufacturer? Appeared on an Owner's narrative for specs for a current project? |

Its wierd, there are no other spelling errors, Painted Gibson Wall Board is mentioned thru out the document. It could be a misspelling or a sad joke. |

They might be wrong, but at least they're consistent! I tend to think Greta's instinct is right, and someone unfamiliar w/ construction materials misconstrued the name. Jeffrey Wilson CCS CSI SCIP Wilson Consulting Inc Ardmore PA |

Years ago, I saw a masonry section where "arris" had been replaced by "arise", evidently by someone not familiar with the terminology. And we all know the horrors of auto-correct and replace. |

I could buy a spelling error if gypsum wasn't correctly spelled in several other line items, its strange. The odd thing is the Project Manager is very knowledgeable and he also asked if I ever heard of Gibson Wall Board. Maybe I am being punked. Thanks Lynn, Greta, and Jeffrey, my apologies for the waste of time. |

Lynn, I respect you, but this is not my idea of FUN!, of course I have not had FUN! in a decade, but I am pretty sure this is not it. I know I am going to regret this, but maybe I will start a new thread and ask my colleagues how they define FUN! |

There is a "Gibson Walls" at https://www.gibsonwalls.com/. They make digital interactive graphics. Also http://www.gibsonathletic.com/gibson-wall-padding-wp-87225 Or they could be covering the wall with vintage guitars: http://www.vintageguitar.com/27374/gibson-wall-board-guitar/ How is the board on your project being used? The Gibson query came from a narrative outline I received from a client to help define scope of work for a new project. The Narrative excerpts: "Conference Room Ceilings: Acoustical Ceiling Tile - Painted Gibson Wall Board" or For another space: "Ceilings: Gypsum Wall Board Painted". |

In the vein of "Gibson Wall Board," maybe the residents of the assisted living facility would like "Acoustical Flannel Ceilings." ;-) Ron Geren, FCSI Lifetime Member, AIA, CCS, CCCA, CSC, SCIP

Sorry! Posted on the wrong board: Below is a response to my query to the Gypsum Association from Michael Schmeida, Director - Technical Services”: “There is no manufacturer named Gibson we are aware of, nor do we have any record of one in our archives. My belief is there are one of two possible scenarios going on here: 1. Someone meant to type gypsum and misspelled it and autocorrect made it Gibson. 2. They may be referring to a distributor to provide the board.” "Fast is good, but accurate is better." .............Wyatt Earp |
